WATCH: Competitive Eaters Eat Goat in Attempt to Reverse Cubs' Curse

The Billy Goat Curse dates back to Oct. 6, 1945

For years, Cubs fans have wondered how to break the “billy goat curse” but five competitive eaters bit the bullet, er goat, Tuesday in an attempt to reverse the team’s luck.

Famed Japanese competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi, who has won Nathan's Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest six times, L.A. Beast, a competitive eater and YouTube star, Notorious B.O.B. and Taco In A Bag co-owners Pat “Deepdish” Bertoletti and Tim “Gravy” Brown joined forces at the Taco In A Bag restaurant in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood, eating an entire goat in a gut-wrenching effort to change the Cubs’ curse.

The Billy Goat Curse dates back to Oct. 6, 1945, when tavern owner Billy Sianis bought a box seat for his goat, Murphy, for Game 4 of the World Series at Wrigley Field to help promote his establishment. When he was ordered to remove the goat, he claimed to place a curse on the team that would prevent it from ever hosting another World Series at Wrigley Field.

The latest effort to reverse the curse comes as the Cubs look to make the playoffs amid an exciting year for the team.

In other animal-related Cubs news, team manager Joe Maddon on Tuesday also turned Wrigley Field into a petting zoo of sorts. While no goats were present, there was a flamingo, a snow leopard, a penguin and other animals.
