Comcast Down for 4,000 After Avondale Garage Fire

About 4,000 people are without Comcast service following a fire Thursday night in the Northwest Side Avondale neighborhood.

Firefighters responded about 7 p.m. to the 3600 block of West Diversey Avenue and found a fire in a garage, Fire Media Affairs Chief Larry Langford said.

Comcast internet and cable services are out for about 4,000 customers because of the fire, a spokesman said.

Crews stopped the fire from spreading to a vacant coach house nearby, and no one was hurt, Langford said. The fire has since been extinguished.
