Illinois celebrates the life of a Revolutionary war hero Monday.
Polish-born Casimir Pulaski was a cavalry officer who died in battle in Georgia in 1779. Pulaski Day means all Chicago Public Schools are closed, as well as many in the suburbs.
All Chicago public libraries are closed along with City of Chicago and Cook County offices. All federal and state courts remain open.
Banks and the post offices will remain open, and postal service is unaffected.
Public transportation will run on normal schedules.
