Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was named the projected winner in Illinois, according to NBC News.

The state’s 20 Electoral College votes put Clinton ahead of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump by a count of 75 to 66. Clinton has also scored projected victories in Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, NBC News reported.

The former Secretary of State, who was born in Chicago and raised in suburban Park Ridge, scored a critical early victory Tuesday in the historically blue state. Clinton beat out her Democratic challenger, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, in Illinois' March Democratic primary.

Clinton focused considerable energy in her home state, opening a pair of campaign offices and attending a series of big-ticket fundraisers.
