City Water Department Employee Shot in Little Village

A city Water Department employee was shot on the job Thursday morning in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 40-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle in the 3000 block of South Komensky around 11:15 a.m. when two males walked up and fired at least four shots in his direction, police said.

He was wounded in the upper left chest and hand, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

The man is an employee of city’s Water Department, spokesman Peter Scales confirmed. Scales declined to provide additional details.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Police have no one in custody and no suspects have been identified.
