For most of us in Chicago, summer seems a long way away. But for Mayor Rahm Emanuel, it's just around the corner.
The mayor announced plans to modernize and upgrade the city's swimming pools to make them more energy efficient and cost effective. The savings from cutting down energy costs will pay for the upgrades.
The Chicago Infrastructure Trust is working with the Park District and Chicago Public Schools to carry out the project.
There was no immediate word on when it will start and how long it will take.
