A child was critically injured and four other people were hurt in a Bronzeville neighborhood traffic crash Saturday afternoon on the South Side.
About 1:45 p.m., a vehicle was going westbound on 48th Street when the driver blew a stop sign at the intersection of Indiana Avenue, slamming into another vehicle, according to Chicago Police.
Four people were pinned into the vehicle that went through the stop sign, police and Chicago Fire Department officials said. A girl whose age wasn’t available suffered traumatic injuries and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, authorities said.
A 43-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital and two women, ages 32 and 38, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The 47-year-old man at the wheel of the other car was taken to Stroger as well, police said.
The four adults were listed in fair-to-serious condition, fire officials said. All their conditions had stabilized by Saturday evening, police said.
Traffic citations were pending against the driver of the first vehicle.
