Chicago's Worst Cop?

Costing taxpayers millions

Chicago police officer Daniel Bora has been sued at least 20 times since 1998 and cost the taxpayers $4 million in court settlements.

And he's still on the job.

"[H]ow many pensions can you pay with four million dollars?" said private investigator Paul Ciolino, who reviewed the lawsuits against Bora at the request of Fox Chicago News, which broke the story Monday night. "How many new cops can you hire with $4 million? Giving him the greatest benefit of the doubt, he’s still a huge liability for the city."

And yet, according to Fox Chicago, Bora has never even appeared before the police review board to be considered for suspension, much less dismissal.

Bora is currently assigned to a station in Wrigleyville.

Police chief Jody Weis refused to comment to Fox Chicago -- because, he said, Bora has a pending case against him.

In his previous lawsuits, Fox Chicago says, "The cases are remarkably consistent. Each one involves somebody who claims to have been falsely arrested, assaulted, or injured."

At least one other Chicago police officer has been sued with Bora in all 20 lawsuits, some of which have been dismissed, according to Fox Chicago.

Does that make you feel better or worse?
