Hundreds of cars were abandoned in the northbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive after accidents and drifting snow stranded drivers during the Feb. 1 blizzard. Chicago recorded 20.2 inches of snow and the third biggest blizzard in its history. Buildings were damaged, workplaces and schools were closed, and hundreds of thousands of homes lost power.
