Chicago's 102nd Christmas Tree Lights up Millennium Park

The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held for the first time in Millennium Park at the corner of Washington and Michigan

Chicago’s official Christmas tree is in its new home for the holidays, and the city gave it a big welcome Tuesday night at the 102nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The event was held for the first time in Millennium Park at the corner of Washington and Michigan and featured performances by opera singers Renée Fleming and Danielle de Niese, cast members from Emerald City Theatre's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and the Latin Music Project Ensemble.

This year’s tree, a 63-foot Colorado Blue Spruce, came from a home in northwest suburban Northlake.

It is the first time in nearly 50-years the tree isn’t standing at Daley Plaza.
