6 Dead, 35 Wounded in Shootings Since Friday Evening

Among the victims were a 65-year-old woman and two 15-year-old boys

Editor's Note: NBC Chicago includes shootings that happened between 6 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Monday in its weekend violence report.

At least six people have died and another 35 have been wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday evening.

In the weekend's first fatal shooting, an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy got into a street fight with another man at about 6:15 p.m. in the 3800 block of West Lexington, police said.

During the fight, the other man pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the 18-year-old man in the head and the 16-year-old in the right shoulder, police said.

Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where the older teen was pronounced dead. The younger teen was listed in stable condition.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the deceased teen as Cory Fisher, of the 3200 block of West Carroll.

No one is in custody for the shooting.

In another fatal incident on Saturday evening, a 36-year-old man was shot to death in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood.

The man was in the 5200 block of South Menard when he was shot in the head several times at close range, police said. He was found unresponsive in the street and pronounced dead on the scene.

A police source said the victim was a documented gang member.

Later Saturday, a 35-year-old man was killed and a 26-year-old woman was injured in a shooting in the Brighton Park neighborhood.

The shooting happened at about 9:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of South Albany, police said. The man was found lying in the street with gunshot wounds to his chest and arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The woman told police she as standing on a porch when she heard shots fired and felt pain. She suffered a graze wound to her thigh and was treated and released on the scene.

No one is in custody, and area central detectives are investigating.

A police source said the male victim was a documented gang member.

Another fatal shooting happened early Sunday morning.

A 28-year-old man was found at about 6 a.m.in the 1500 block of North Avers in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. He suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and the arm, police said.  The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

A police source said the victim was a documented gang member.

Further information was not available.

Two people were fatally shot in two separate shootings around the same time Sunday evening.

A 42-year-old man was shot while driving just after 8:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Lamon Avenue. Someone opened fire on the man's vehicle, shooting the driver multiple times, police said. The man's car crashed into a parked car nearby and he was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

About five minutes later, a 30-year-old man was found dead on the street in the 2400 block of West 58th Street. Police said the man had wounds to his right shoulder, groin and abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

In a non-fatal shooting incident, a 65-year-old woman was shot in the back and the arm in the South Shore neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

Police said the woman was standing with a 21-year-old man at about 2:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Merrill when someone exited an alley and began shooting at the man, who was shot in the abdomen and suffered a graze wound to the thigh.

Both victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the woman was listed in stable condition. The man's condition was unknown.

A police source said the male victim is a documented gang member.

Several others were wounded in shootings over the weekend, including the following incidents: 

  • A 21-year-old woman was shot in the thigh at about 8:05 p.m. Friday in the 8000 block of South Escanaba in the South Chicago neighborhood.
  • A 31-year-old man was shot in the arm during an apparent robbery at about 8:10 p.m. Friday in the 7800 block of South Laflin in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
  • A 29-year-old man was shot in the chest at about 10:07 p.m. Friday in the 10200 block of South Lowe in the Washington Heights neighborhood. 
  • A 38-year-old man was shot in the chest at about 10:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North Lockwood in the South Austin neighborhood.
  • A 22-year-old man was shot in the wrist at about 10:50 p.m. Friday in the 5100 block of South St. Louis in the Lawndale neighborhood.
  • A 15-year-old boy was shot in the foot at about 11:25 p.m. Friday in the 6400 block of South Mozart in the Marquette Park neighborhood.
  • A 29-year-old woman was shot in the ankle and suffered a graze wound to the arm at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 8100 block of South Manistee in the South Chicago neighborhood.
  • A 19-year-old man was shot in the back at about 3:40 a.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of South Hoyne on the Lower West Side.
  • A 26-year-old man was shot in the hand at about 1:20 p.m. Saturday in the 7800 block of South Emerald in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
  • A 15-year-old boy was shot in the chest at about 2 p.m. Saturday in the 4600 block of South Winchester in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
  • An 18-year-old man was shot in the back at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of West 82nd Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
  • A 28-year-old man was shot in both feet at about 7 p.m. Saturday in the 8900 block of South Morgan in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
  • A 36-year-old man was shot at about 7:37 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of West Pope John Paul II Drive in the Brighton Park neighborhood.
  • A 25-year-old man was shot in the leg at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of North Keeler in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
  • An 18-year-old man was shot in the foot at about 9:10 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of West 50th Street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
  • A 23-year-old man and a 33-year-old man were shot at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday in the 6800 block of South East End in the Jackson Park neighborhood.
  • A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg at about 11:15 p.m. in the 5000 block of West Hirsch in the Austin neighborhood.
  • A 24-year-old man was shot in the leg at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 900 block of North Long in the Austin neighborhood.
  • A 16-year-old man was shot in the lower back at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of South Western in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
  • A 21-year-old man was shot in the buttocks at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday in the 10300 block of South Avenue N on the Far South Side.
  • A 40-year-old man was shot in the lower back at about 2:55 a.m. in the 1800 block of North Mozart in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
  • A 24-year-old man was shot in the leg during an apparent robbery at about 4:55 a.m. Sunday in the 5300 block of South Wabash in the Washington Park neighborhood.
  • Two men, both 24, were shot at about 7:05 a.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of West Polk in the Garfield Park neighborhood.
  • A 24-year-old man was shot around 11:20 a.m. in the 6100 block of South Rockwell Street after someone exited a silver vehicle and opened fire on him, police said. The shooter fled the scene in the vehicle and the victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition. The victim was not cooperating with police, officials said. 
  • Around 5:15 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in the groin in the 6700 block of South Artesian Avenue. The teen was standing outside when he was shot by an unknown gunman, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition.
  • Just before 11 p.m., three people were shot in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood. The three men were standing on a front porch in the 6900 block of South Winchester Avenue when they heard shots and felt pain, police said. A 22-year-old man was shot in the right hand and taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, a 25-year-old man was shot in the hip and taken to Stroger Hospital and a 26-year-old man was shot in the neck and back and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition. 
  • Around midnight, a 29-year-old man was shot in the 700 block of South Campbell Avenue. The man was standing on a sidewalk when a gunman exited an SUV and opened fire. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition with a graze wound to the calf, police said.
