Chicago's Official Christmas Tree Arrives at Millennium Park

Chicago's 106th official Christmas tree officially arrived at Millennium Park Friday evening.

The 55-foot blue spruce from Elgin was cut down Thursday morning. The tree's owner, Gene Nelson, was selected from more than 40 submissions sent to the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, city officials said.

The Nelson family will have the opportunity to "flip the switch" at the 106th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 22, officials said.
