4 Dead, 18 Wounded in Overnight Shootings

22 people were shot over the course of 10 hours from Friday night to early Saturday

Four people were killed and at least 18 others were wounded in a 10 hours long spate of gunfire that occurred almost entirely on the South and West sides from Friday evening to early Saturday.

A man was shot to death in West Englewood Saturday morning, police said.

The 32-year-old was sitting in a vehicle about 5:20 a.m. in the 6300 block of South Honore when a male approached and shot him in the head, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office didn’t immediately confirm the death and dditional details were not immediately available.

About 3:15 a.m., a man was in the 900 block of West 96th Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood when two other males walked up and shot him several times police said. The man, whose exact age was not known Saturday morning, was dead at the scene. Additional details were not immediately available.

Less than 30 minutes later, a man was found shot to death in Austin.

About 2:50 a.m., officers responding to a call of a person shot found the 35-year-old man unresponsive in the alley of the 200 block of North Laramie, police said. He had been shot once in the back of the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed both deaths, but did not release additional details early Saturday.

A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting Friday in the Northwest Side Logan Square neighborhood, according to Chicago Police.

The attack happened at 6:49 p.m. in the 2900 block of West Armitage, police said.

One man, 20, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The other man, 21, was shot in the leg and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said. He told investigators he heard shots and realized he’d been hit, police said.

The medical examiner’s office could not confirm the fatality Friday evening.

The most recent nonfatal shooting occurred in the West Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

A 34-year-old woman was driving in a car about 3:55 a.m. in the 6400 block of South Keeler when someone in a vehicle behind her fired shots in her direction, according to police.

The woman was struck in the shoulder and left hand and took herself to Mount Sinai Medical Center where her condition was stabilized.

A 14-year-old boy was in an alley about 3 a.m. in the 6700 block of South Halsted in Englewood when he was shot in the right ear, police said. He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

At least 15 other people were wounded in shootings since Friday evening.
