Chicago Sun-Times Lays Off Photo Staff

The paper said it's focused on bolstering reporting with video and multimedia efforts

The Chicago Sun-Times and its sister papers on Thursday laid off its entire staff of photographers.

In a statement the newspaper explained its "business is changing rapidly and our audiences are consistently seeking more video content with their news."

The paper said it is focused on bolstering reporting with video and multimedia efforts and must restructure accordingly.

"The Chicago Sun-Times continues to evolve with our digitally savvy customers, and as a result, we have had to restructure the way we manage multimedia, including photography, across the network."

The photographers reportedly received the news during a meeting Thursday morning.
