Chicago's Independent Police Review Authority is investigating a police-involved shooting Wednesday night in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

Police issued a statement saying officers were in the 6600 block of South Langley around 9:45 p.m. to investigate an earlier shooting and approached a man to question him. The man turned and pointed a handgun at the officers, police said.

An officer discharged his weapon, striking the man. Police said he was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but police did not provide the name of the hospital nor the man's condition.

No officers were injured.

Police said they recovered a weapon at the scene.

This incident was the second officer-involved shooting Wednesday night. An earlier incident left an officer injured with a gunshot wound.
