Police Officer Pulls Man Out of Burning Vehicle After Fatal Crash

A Romeoville Police officer is being recognized for his efforts after stopped at the scene of a fatal crash on Interstate 55 at Lemont Road and pulled a man from a burning vehicle.

Thanksgiving Day shopping got off to a frightening start at a Kohl’s Romeoville store. Police responding to a call about shoplifters shot a man who trapped the officer with his car door as he tried to get away. He was taken to the hospital. His passenger and a third man inside the store were arrested. NBC’s Regina Waldroup reports.

A Chicago Police Officer was injured during a traffic stop Thursday morning in the city’s West Town neighborhood.

The officer was conducting a traffic stop around 3 a.m. in the 900 block of North Willard Court when he became involved in a physical altercation with a man, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he is expected to be treated and released.

The offender was taken into custody after the incident, Alfaro said.
