Cop Accidentally Shoots Partner

Shot ricocheted off a dog, hit officer in the leg

A Chicago police officer accidentally shot his partner in the leg Wednesday afternoon while they were executing a search warrant, the department said.

According to a preliminary statement released from the department:

Officers from the Narcotics Section were executing a search warrant in the 6000 block of South May Street. 

As one of the officers tried to secure a room inside the building, two dogs charged towards him.   The officer fired his weapon in the direction of the charging dogs. 

The shot reflected off of one of the dogs, accidentally striking another officer in the leg.

The injured officer was transported to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn where he is in good condition.  Police have five subjects in custody and charges are pending.
