Police Shoot Gunman in Englewood

Police shot and killed a man after he pointed a gun at them

Chicago police shot and killed a man they say pointed a gun at them on the city's South Side.

Officers pulled over a car during a traffic stop around 12:26 a.m. in the Englewood neighborhood, police said. That's when a man got out of his car and ran off while pointing a gun at officers chasing him.

An officer opened fire, shooting the gunman, according to police.

The man has not been identified, but the Cook County Medical Examiner says he appeared to be in his 30s.

Police recovered two guns at the scene.
