Police: Girl, 13, Attacked On Way to School on West Side

Chicago police issued a community alert late Thursday after a man attacked a 13-year-old girl on her way to school.

The girl was walking around 9:15 a.m. on April 22 in the 2500 block of South Harding to the Little Village Academy when police say a man approached her and asked her in Spanish, “Tienes un dolar?,” which translates to “Do you have one dollar?”

The girl walked away from the man, and he then approached her again and put his arm around her neck. The girl kicked the offender in the knee and ran away, officials said.  The man chased after the girl for a short time, but she was able to run to her school, according to authorities.

Another student reported a suspicious person in the area.

Police say the man was between 40 and 50 years old, stood 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed between 140 and 160 pounds. He had black eyes, an olive complexion and black hair. Police say he was wearing a black baseball cap, a red jacket with a dark blue Air Jordan logo, blue jeans and white Nike logo gym shoes.
