Five people, including two police officers, were seriously injured after a police car collided with another vehicle early Sunday in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side.

Around 1:45 a.m., a squad car was responding to a call when it collided with a civilian vehicle at Harrison Street and Kedzie Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Two police officers and three civilians, whose ages were not yet known, were transported in serious to critical condition to area hospitals, according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor. All had non life-threatening injuries, MacGregor said.

The police officers were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the civilians were each taken to Stroger Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, MacGregor said.
