Chicago Plane Skids Off Runway in Ottawa

A United Express plane carrying 44 people has skidded off the runway at Ottawa International Airport.

The plane literally flew off the runway and tipped on its side," one passenger Tweeted. "Everyone was screaming."

Emergency and airport officials said Sunday all the passengers traveling from Chicago got off the plane safely and were taken into the terminal on city buses.

Airport spokeswoman Krista Kealey says there was no injuries and everyone is fine.

"We felt like we were coming in fairly fast," said David Ross. "It felt like we were hydroplaning."

Marc Messier, a spokesman for the Ottawa fire service, posted on twitter that fire crews were working to contain a fuel spill from the damaged under carriage of the plane.

United Airlines did not have any immediate information on the mishap.
