Chicago Officer Hurt in Hit-and-Run Crash

The officer is recovering at a local hospital

A Chicago police officer was struck early Thursday in a hit-and-run crash in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood, authorities confirmed.

Police News Affairs said a male officer on duty was hit around 12:30 a.m. in the 7900 block of South Wabash Avenue. Police said the officer was outside his squad car conducting a traffic stop when the crash occurred.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver fled the scene. No one was in custody, though police said the located the car on the 7900 block of South Prairie.
