Chicago Marathon Deals: Where to Eat, Drink Before and After the Race

As race day nears, head to these restaurants to get the most out of your post-marathon celebration

Over 40,000 runners are preparing to complete the 26.2 miles in the Chicago Marathon this weekend, and local restaurants are helping them get to the finish line.

Marathon-related deals are swamping restaurant menus across the city. Here’s a list of places to carbo-load before and after the big race.

The Hampton Social

353 W. Hubbard St.

Carb-friendly dinner and brunch specials are featured on the menu of the East Coast-inspired restaurant in honor of the upcoming Chicago Marathon from Oct. 6-9. Feast on pasta dishes like Squid Ink Linguine and Ricotta Gnocchi for dinner and homemade waffles for brunch.

Bistronomic

840 N. Wabash

The French bistro will unveil a Chicago Marathon menu of four dishes in the week leading up to the event. Although details for the 2016 menu are still being finalized, last year’s marathon options included linguine with organic Amish chicken, winter root vegetables and mushroom sauce for $26.

The James Hotel

55 E. Ontario

Grab-and-go breakfasts will be provided to marathon runners on the morning of the race that include fruit, yogurt, muffins and croissants. Premade bags will be available for pickup between 5:15 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. in the hotel’s lobby.

Lottie’s Pub

1925 W. Cortland

On Oct. 9, marathon runners and their groups get 26.2 percent off all food with a race ID or medal. Mimosas are also available all day for just $2.62.

The Pony Inn

1638 W. Belmont

From 12:00 a.m. on Oct. 9 to 12:00 a.m. on Oct. 10, the bar will be giving marathon runners 26.2 percent off an entire group’s bill with a race ID. The wood-paneled pub features a choice of tacos, burgers, sandwiches and salads, along with multiple cocktail options.

Park Grill

11 N. Michigan

Join Olympic medalist Deena Kastor during the restaurant’s annual Marathon Pasta Dinner. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Kastor, take photos and listen to her last minute words of encouragement. Tickets are $40 per person and include a build-your-own pasta station, salad, desert and a choice of one Goose Island beer or one glass of featured wine.

Quartino

626 N. State

Carbo-load with Quartino as they celebrate National Pasta Month. The restaurant has over 10 pasta options to choose from, including Spagehetti Pomodoro with organic tomatoes and fresh basil and Fettuccine Alfredo.

The Kitchen

316 N. Clark St

The Kitchen will feature pasta specials by Chef Johnny Anderes Friday and Saturday. Additionally, brunch will be extended on race day, lasting from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and a 3-course $40/person prix fixe will also be available for dinner from 5-9 p.m.

Bernie’s Lunch and Supper

660 N Orleans St

Bernie’s Lunch and Supper will celebrate the marathon Friday through Sunday with a featured pasta special by Chef Ryan Sand. Diners can enjoy house-made Strozzapreti with Heirloom Tomatoes and Italian Sausage for $21.

Cochon Volant Brasserie

100 W. Monroe St

Cochon Volant Brasserie’s Chef Matt Ayala will serve a Tomato, Basil and Burrata Spaghetti special for $15.95 from October 7-9. Race-goers can also enjoy brunch on Sunday, October 9 from 8AM-3PM.

Dough Bros

400 N. State St

River North pizza and sub shop, Dough Bros, will offer buy one, get one free slices to racers who present a marathon ID on October 9. The offer is valid on the first slice, dine-in only.

Frontier

1072 N. Milwaukee Ave

West Town’s Frontier will serve three off-menu pasta specials Friday and Saturday in celebration of the marathon. 

G&O

459 N. Ogden Ave

G&O will offer their Mac n’ Cheese paired with a Coors Banquet draft for $10 in the days leading up to the marathon, October 7-9.

The Kerryman

661 N. Clark St

Racers can fuel-up in the week leading up to the marathon with a variety of specials at The Kerryman, available starting the Monday before the race through Sunday. Racers who present their race ID on Sunday will also receive a “Kerryman Recovery Pack”, though the contents of that pack are being kept a surprise.

SteakBar

1500 N Wells St.

Marathon runners looking to “whet their whistle” post-run, will appreciate a visit to SteakBar, located in the heart of Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood. With proof of marathon participation Sunday, guests can enjoy draft beers for $2.62 each (one beer per person), including the crisp Revolution Anti-Hero and flavorful Lagunitas Pils.
