A 53-year-old Chicago man faces charges for allegedly trying to lure a group of five 11- and 12-year-old children into his van.

Regugio Rangel, of the 3800 block of West 67th Street, was charged for attempted kidnapping in the city’s South Side Scottsdale neighborhood.

The children told police Rangel watched them as they played Monday on the 8100 block of South Kenneth Avenue. He then approached them, they said, and demanded they get into the vehicle.

The children ran off and reported the incident to police, who later found and arrested Rangel.

He now faces five counts of child abduction and luring a child, and is scheduled to appear Wednesday in bond court.
