A 12-year-old girl was shot in the leg Wednesday in front of her home in Chicago's Marquette Park neighborhood, police said.

Crystal Booker was doing homework outside when someone fired about 10 shots toward her home, in the the 6500 block of South Talman Avenue, at about 6:30 p.m.

"Everybody got to ducking and all that. So she was all the way at the bottom and then she got hit," said the girl's cousin, Aelicia Booker. "She was panicking, but her father was set on calming her down. But she was an innocent person."
