Chicago Cubs Tickets Third Most Expensive in Nation

If your family asks you to take them out to the ball game at Wrigley Field it’s not going to be cheap, according to a new study which ranks Chicago Cubs ticket costs as the third most expensive in the nation.

Sports marketing publisher Team Marketing Report analyzed how much it would set you back for a family of four to attend a baseball game for each MLB team in the 2015 season by including four tickets, two beers, four soft drinks, four hot dogs, parking and two hats. When heading to a Cubs game you’ll end up paying $241.13.

But it’s the worst for Boston Red Sox fans – a family outing at Fenway Park will fare $350.86. Coming in second are their rivals the New York Yankees. The Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals round out the top five most expensive tickets.

The report shows the average MLB ticket increased by 3.3 percent to $28.94 for the 2015 season, which is the biggest raise in price since 2009.

The Chicago Cubs charge well above average, at least $44.81 a ticket with the highest beer cost in the league at $7.75, a soft drink for $4.50, a hot dog for $5.75 and a Cubs cap costing 20 bucks.

As for the cheapest? You can snag a ticket to a San Diego Padres for a mere $16.37, and grabbing a hot dog at a Cincinnati Reds game is only a buck.
