Chicago Cubs Collect Funds For Illinois Tornado Victims

Cubs will collect donations during Tuesday night’s game against the Cincinnati Reds

The Chicago Cubs will collect donations during Tuesday night’s game against the Cincinnati Reds to aid victims of the tornado that devastated parts of central Illinois last week.

The team announced that Cubs associates will collect monetary donations at the gates before the game. Proceeds from the night’s Cubs Charities 50/50 Raffle also will benefit the cause.

All of the donations will be sent to the Illinois Tornado Relief Effort, a campaign that supports nonprofit agencies provide disaster relief and recovery efforts to communities hit hardest by the tornadoes.

The McCormick Foundation announced it will match the first $500,000 raised at 50 cents on the dollar.

Fans who aren’t able to attend the game can donate through Sunday by visiting Cubs.com/give.
