Chicago 2016 Unveils Charter Plane

Chicago 2016 today unveiled the chartered United Airlines plane that will carry the delegation to Copenhagen next week.

On board the Boeing 747, which is decorated with the Chicago 2016 logo, will be "hundred of supporters" including "Chicago 2016 committee members, supporters, athletes, media, staff and others," according to a release.

The flight is scheduled to leave Monday evening for Denmark.

Chicago 2016 representatives were not immediately available for comment.

The unveiling comes eight days before the bid decision in Copenhagen.

Oprah Winfrey said Wednesday that she would be joining the delegation in Copenhagen, and just today, Arne Duncan announced he would be as well.

Speculation continues as to whether President Obama will make an appearance.

Also traveling to Copenhagen: 26 Olympic and Paralympic athletes, including two-time Olympic heptathlon champion Jackie Joyner-Kersee of East St. Louis; reigning Olympic decathlon champion Bryan Clay; two-time intermediate hurdles champion Edwin Moses; and Michael Johnson, the only man to win the 200 and 400 meters at the same Olympics.

Chicago's 2016 charter plane joins the other bid city planes, including Madrid's Airbus 321, and Japan's B767-300.
