New Year's Eve

Chi-Town Rising Performance Spotlight: Chicago

Legendary rock band Chicago will be one of the headliners of the epic New Year's Eve event Chi-Town Rising, which will feature several music stages, a fireworks show and the rising of a Chicago star into the sky at midnight.

Grammy Award-winning Chicago, which is also currently nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2016, will usher in the New Year as the final performance on the Chi-Town Rising stage at midnight.

Known for the classic hits "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" and "Saturday in the Park," among others, Chicago is considered one of the longest-running rock-and-roll groups in history.

Among the band's many accolades are a No. 13 spot in Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists and a place in the Grammy Hall of Fame. It is also the first rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six decades.

The alt-rock band American Authors will perform before Chicago to close out 2015.

Chi-Town Rising, presented by Corona Extra and hosted by Hyatt Gold Passport, will be held along the Chicago River between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive, with a Countdown Stage on the south side of the river and a midnight countdown featuring a giant Chicago star rising into the sky.

As the countdown begins, the star will ascend 36 stories up the Hyatt Regency Chicago's West Tower, culminating in the fireworks show.

The celebration will be televised live on NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago beginning at 11 p.m. on Dec. 31.
