Chase Bank Customers Find Accounts Wiped Of Funds

Chicago-based bank says the error was internal and not the result of hacking

Those who logged onto their Chase checking accounts Monday to find their balance at zero are urged not to panic.

Chicago-based Chase bank officials said via Twitter the accounts have not been hacked and claim the issue was a result of an internal glitch.

"We're looking into reported trans. issues & working to correct an internal issue to show customer balances. We'll keep you updated," @ChaseSupport tweeted Monday night.

By Tuesday morning the account tweeted the bank is "back to business as usual."

"Apologies again for the trouble & thank you for your patience."

A spokesman said it was internal and not an external security breach that led to the error, though many customers worried Monday after finding their accounts wiped of funds.
