Four people face murder charges in connection with the death of a man last year in the Spring Lake Forest Preserve.

Roberto Guzman, 24; Eric Castillo, 24; Jose Horta, 19; and Nadia Palacios, 22 face charges of first degree murder, the Chicago Tribune reported.

They're accused of killing David Campbell, who was strangled to death and found in a pond in on Cook County Forest Preserve property in July 2011.

Bond for Guzman, Castillo, and Horta's warrants was set at $3 million, and Palacios is in the Lake County Jail in lieu of a $2 million bond.

Police arrested Palacios after investigating a report of shots fired Sunday in Waukegan. Detectives from the Gang Intelligence Unit learned of what they think may have been involvement in Campbell's death during a police interview with Palacios.

The murder may have been driven by a crime the accused believe Campbell committed against them.
