Carl Kasell Leaving “Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me!”

A longtime familiar voice in public radio is calling it quits.

Carl Kasell, the host of the Chicago-based show "Wait Wait... Don’t Tell Me!," is stepping down this spring, according to a news release issued by National Public Radio.

For 30 years, Kasell was the voice of NPR's Morning Edition, but his career took off when he began to host the weekly comedy and quiz show which revolves around the week's headlines.

Kassell will not completely leave the show. He'll continue to record custom voice mail greetings for the show's winners and will occasionally appear on the show, according to NPR.

Kasell has been involved in broadcasting for more than five decades.

Celebration shows are scheduled for Chicago and Washington, DC.
