Carjacking Victim Shot 3 Times Escapes Attackers

The man was shot three times and stuffed into his trunk, police said

A man who was carjacked, shot in the chest three times and stuffed in the trunk of his own vehicle managed to escape his attackers late Monday.

Police said the man was carjacked around 9:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Pulaski in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. The attackers shot the victim and put him in the trunk, then took off, driving around several neighborhoods, police said.

The man somehow escaped the trunk while the suspects drove through the North Lawndale area. He flagged down help and was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he managed to explain what happened to police. He was listed Tuesday in critical condition.

Chicago police later recovered the vehicle, which had been set on fire in a garage just south of the Eisenhower Expressway.

Police continue searching for the attackers. No descriptions have been released.
