Two people were injured and several baristas shaken when a collision in Old Town sent a car into the Starbucks shop at the corner of North Avenue and Wells Street early Wednesday.

Emergency crews responded to the incident at about 5:30 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs Asst. Director Eve Rodriguez.  A taxi cab and another vehicle collided and the cab careened into the Starbucks.

Rodriguez said no one inside the 24-hour coffee shop was injured but a glass window did shatter.

The drivers in both vehicles were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in “stable” condition.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known Wednesday morning and police remained at the scene at 6 a.m.
