A 22-year-old man is in critical condition after he was struck by a driver in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood.

The accident happened just before 2 a.m. in the 300 block of East North Water Street when the man was struck by a 1988 Oldsmobile driving northbound on Columbus Drive, police said.

The pedestrian was traveling against the light and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he remained in serious condition Sunday morning.

The driver, 34-year-old Phillip Beverly, was cited for failure to exercise due care, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

Beverly also suffered minor injuries in the accident and was transported to an area hospital, police said.
