Driver Killed When Car Crashes Into Burbank Home

Authorities say drugs, alcohol not a factor in crash on 5400 block of South State Road

The Burbank Police are investigating what caused a car to crash into the side of a Burbank home overnight, officials said.

The 2002 Pontiac Aztec, driven by a 59-year-old woman, smashed into the home in the 5400 block of State Road around 2:42 a.m.

The woman was traveling northeast on State Road when she struck a barrier than veered into the home, according to Burbank Police.

The driver of the car, identified as Marlene Walter, was "critically injured" in the crash and was transported to an area hospital, according to the Burbank Fire Department.

Burbank Police later confirmed the woman died in the accident.

No one inside the home was injured and it is not believed that drugs or alcohol were involved, police said.
