Cabbie Gets 35 Years for Sexually Assaulting Customers

Chicago man sexually assaulted two women in the northwest suburbs last year

A cab driver has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for sexually assaulting two female customers in the northwest suburbs last year.

Eric Chung, 31, of Chicago, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one felony count of attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault in connection with the attacks.

Prosecutors say Chung picked up a female customer in front of a Prospect Heights bar, drove her behind a gas station against her will, got in the back seat and forcibly fondled her. The victim said she only managed to escape after agreeing to give him oral sex in order to get him off of her.

A few weeks later, Chung picked up three women in front of the same bar. The women said Chung started acting strangely, so two of them jumped out at a red light, but Chung sped off before the third woman could get out.

Police tracked the cab to an office complex on East Algonquin Road in Schaumburg and heard the woman yelling for help while being assaulted. She said Chung hit and strangled her before sexually assaulting her in the back seat.

According to the State's Attorney's Office, Chung will have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
