Cab Robber Left ID in Taxi: Prosecutor

Antonio Crawford, 21, left his ID in a cab after trying to use a stolen credit card, and then robbing the cabbie

Leaving your ID in the back of a cab is a common occurrence, but for one man, it led to his arrest.

According to prosecutors, Antonio Crawford, 22, allegedly was trying to pay for a cab ride from Arlington Heights to the 1200 block of South Ashland in Chicago on July 19 with a credit card that had been reported stolen, The Sun-Times reports.

After the stolen credit card was denied, Crawford pulled a 9-millimeter gun on the cabbie and took $100 from him as he fled from the cab, according to prosecutors on Sunday in Cook County Central Bond court.

While he was fleeing the cab, he left his ID sitting in the backseat, according to authorities.

Crawford was wanted in California on an existing warrant and was arrested on Sunday. His bond was set at $250,000.
