Two officers and the prisoner they were transporting escaped the vehicle safely

    Two Chicago Police officers and the prisoner they were transporting were able to get out of the vehicle safely, according to Chicago News Affairs.

    A Chicago Police Department vehicle transporting a prisoner caught fire late Sunday night on the Bishop Ford Expressway.

    The blaze started around 11:15 p.m. when the vehicle’s engine caught fire, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. The vehicle was engulfed in flames in the southbound lanes of I-94 near King Drive.

    Two Chicago Police officers and the prisoner they were transporting were able to get out of the vehicle safely, Greer said.

    All lanes were reopened by 1 a.m. Monday morning. No one was injured.
