CPD Thanks Officers Who Helped Cubs Fans Celebrate

The Chicago Police Department on Wednesday released a tribute video thanking the many officers who worked to help Cubs fans celebrate the team's World Series win.

The more than 5-minute video thanks the "thousands of officers and partners who worked countless hours in front and behind the scenes to ensure America could celebrate our World Champion CUBS safely."

More than a dozen people were arrested amid the raucous celebration outside Wrigley Field after the Chicago Cubs won their first World Series in more than a century.

According to the Office of Emergency Management, the arrests were primarily for disorderly conduct and reckless conduct.

A large police presence was visible outside Wrigley Field following the Chicago Cubs' win as barricades were erected in the jampacked North Side neighborhood.

"We will work to encourage safe celebration but will remain intolerant to destructive or criminal activity [in Wrigleyville]," Antohony Guglielmi, a department spokesman said at the time.

Police again worked diligently as the city and the team braced for an epic parade and rally to celebrate the historic victory just two days later.

According to estimates, five million people gathered in Grant Park, flocked to Wrigley Field and lined up along Michigan Avenue for what was arguably one of the biggest sports celebrations Chicago has seen.
