Skokie police are trying to close in on a home burglar who may have robbed as many as five homes there in one day.

All the robberies happened between 12:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday. In each crime, the thief broke in through a door, or in one case, a window. Residents were not home at the time.

The burglar got away with jewelry, computer equipment and a flat-screen TV, police said.

The crimes happened in the:

  • 5300 block of Carol Street
  • 8800 block of Kenton Avenue
  • 9200 block of Ridgeway Avenue
  • 9500 block of Lawndale Avenue
  • 4100 block of Greenwood Street

Skokie police want residents to be on alert for any strange activity or people in their neighborhoods, and to call police if they see anything suspicious.
