Bryant, Lester Among Favorites to Collect Postseason Hardware

The Chicago Cubs are winding down their regular season, and two of their players are strong contenders for postseason awards according to new betting odds.

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is currently the favorite to win the National League Most Valuable Player award, according to Bovada. Bryant cracked his 38th home run of the season on Wednesday night and currently has a .295 batting average and 99 RBI on the season, and he leads the league with 117 runs scored.

Bryant currently has -150 odds to win the award, according to the website. At +150, Daniel Murphy is currently in second place in the ranking, with 25 home runs and 104 RBI for the Washington Nationals this season. Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado is in third at +600, with 39 home runs and a staggering 128 RBI.

In the Cy Young Award race, the Cubs surprisingly don’t have a favorite in the race as they try to win the trophy for the second year in a row. Washington Nationals hurler Max Scherzer is currently the favorite at -300, with an 18-7 record, a 2.82 ERA, and 267 strikeouts in 217 1/3rd innings pitched this season.

Cubs hurler Jon Lester is in second place on the list, checking in at +300. He is currently second in the National League in ERA with a 2.36 ERA, has an 18-4 record, and has struck out 184 batters in 191 innings pitched this season.

Madison Bumgarner is a +600 to win the award, with a 14-9 record and a 2.57 ERA for the San Francisco Giants.

Shockingly, Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks is not listed in betting odds for the award. He has a 15-8 record this season, but he leads the league in ERA at 2.06 and has struck out 161 batters despite his reputation as a non-power pitcher.
