18 people hurt in Chicago shootings since Friday night

A 12-year-old boy was shot in the head Saturday night, another in a string of shootings since Friday.

The boy was struck and killed just after 10 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Brandon Avenue, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

On Friday a 14-year-old boy was killed around 9 p.m. in the 2600 block of West 37th Place. The boy, identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Alejandro Jamie, was struck in the back. It's not known what spurred the shooting.

The two boys were among three people killed since Friday night. Another 18 people were injured.

Early Saturday a 23-year-old man identified as Melvin Jacobs was killed in a shooting on a porch in the 11600 block of South Peoria Avenue, according to the Sun-Times. Five others were injured.
