Bouncer Shot Inside Northwest Side Bar

Police say they do not think the 51-year-old victim, working at Brudders Bar during the Saturday night shooting, was the intended target

The bouncer at a Northwest Side neighborhood bar was shot late Saturday night, police confirm.

Police say at 11:45 p.m. in the 3600 block of N Pulaski in the Old Irving Park neighborhood, a gunman was on the street when he fired shots towards longtime local establishment Brudders Bar.

One of the bullets pierced through the window of the bar and struck a 51-year-old man in the head, according to police. Witnesses say the man working inside as a bouncer had worked at the establishment for some time, and was trying to keep the peace when he was shot.

The victim was taken to Masonic Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. Police say he does not have a history of arrests or any problems with police, and they do not think he was the intended target.

Police also say they received no previous calls to the area leading up to the shooting for fights or disturbances, leaving many details left to piece together.

No one is in custody, and police continue to investigate.
