Bond has been set for a man and mother accused of killing 4-year-old Christopher Valdez.

Cesar Ruiz, 34, of the 5100 block of South Trumbull Avenue, will be held on $2.5 million and Crystal Valdez, 28, of the same address, will be held on $750,000.

Both have been charged with first degree murder of her son, Christopher Valdez, 4. Their next court date is December 16.

During the hearing, Valdez, could be heard crying.

"I didn't do anything," she said through tears.

Christopher Valdez was killed in a “possible domestic situation” at the family’s Trumbull Avenue home, authorities said.Valdez was charged with concealment of a homicide and child endangerment resulting in a death, police said Sunday after the couple's arrest.

Police said the boy was dead when they arrived at the home about 2:10 p.m. Friday. He appeared to have died from “multiple blunt force trauma,” police said.

Christopher Valdez was pronounced dead at 3:10 p.m. at Holy Cross Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

A Saturday autopsy determined he died from multiple blunt force injuries and child abuse, and the death was ruled a homicide.

A relative of Cesar Ruiz, sister Msaria Castillo, said she can't sleep at night because of what happened to Christopher.
