Authorities had responded to an emergency bomb situation at a northern Michigan airport involving an incoming flight from Chicago.

But Federal officials quickly released information saying there was no bomb threat and that a passenger simply disregarded instructions not to use the washroom as the plane was descending.

"TSA was notified of a passenger entering the lavatory during approach of SkyWest Airlines Flight 6036 from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, Michigan (TVC).

"The flight landed without incident at TVC, all passengers were deplaned and the plane was swept with negative results. Per standard procedures, law enforcement and TSA personnel met the flight, and the passenger in question is currently being interviewed. TVC temporarily suspended operations at approximately 10:30 AM EST. Operations resumed at 10:56 AM EST."
