Body Pulled From Lake Michigan Identified as Missing Boater

Medical examiner identifies woman as 27-year-old Megan Blenner

Authorities say an Arlington Heights woman's body was pulled from Lake Michigan near downtown Chicago about a month after a boating accident.

The Cook County medical examiner has identified the body pulled from the lake on June 28 as 27-year-old Megan Blenner.

The medical examiner says Blenner drowned after a May 31 boating accident that left one other person dead. Another man was pulled from the water alive and a fourth person remains missing.

Blenner, born in Hoffman Estates, graduated from St. Viator High School in 2004 from Carroll University in 2008 where she was an All-Academic and All-Conference sports player, according to her obituary. She also studied at Northwestern University to complete her CPA certification.

Blenner worked as a financial analyst at Zurich North America and volunteered at PAWS in Lincoln Park among other charities.

A memorial visitation is planned from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., at 1520 North Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights. The funeral service begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, at 440 South Mitchell in Arlington Heights.

Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the Megan Blenner Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Chase Bank, 1 North Dunton Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
