Body Found in Des Plaines River in Joliet

The body of a man was pulled from the Des Plaines River in southwest suburban Joliet Saturday evening.

A tugboat operator found the man’s body in the Des Plaines River just north of the Interstate 80 bridge near the east wall, according to the Will County Coroner’s office.

Leslie D. Bridges, 24, of Joliet was pronounced dead at the scene at 6 p.m. in the 700 block of Railroad Street in Joliet, the coroner’s office said.

An autopsy Sunday determined his death was due to drowning, the coroner’s office said.

Joliet firefighters assisted with the recovery.

Joliet police are investigating.
