FILE IMAGE: A Chicago Police Department criminal transport truck is seen under a passing CTA elevated transit train July 22, 2005 in downtown Chicago.

A man was struck by a CTA Blue Line train in the Loop Sunday morning, temporarily stopping train service in both directions.

The man was discovered on the tracks at Van Buren and Dearborn around 10 a.m.  Power was temporarily shut down as crews worked to remove the man from the tracks, Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor said.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, "but his injuries do not appear to be life threatening," MacGregor said.

Police confirmed they also got the call a few minutes before 10 a.m.

By 10:25 a.m., power had been restored and trains were moving once again, MacGregor said.
