Blackhawks Nab 21 Nationally Televised Games in 2015-16 Season

To the victor goes the spoils, and in the case of the Chicago Blackhawks, they certainly have gotten a nice reward for their third Stanley Cup championship in six seasons. The Hawks will appear on NBC and NBCSN 21 times during the 2015-16 season.

That number, which eclipses last year’s total of 20 games on the networks, represents a quarter of the Blackhawks’ total games and one-fifth of all of NBC’s hockey coverage in the coming season.

The Blackhawks will kick off the season on NBCSN with their Stanley Cup banner ceremony against the New York Rangers on Oct. 7, and they will also play games against teams like the Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Montreal Canadiens on the network. They will also have their outdoor game against the Minnesota Wild televised on NBC Feb. 21, with the start time tentatively scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Eight of the Blackhawks’ NBCSN games will take place on the network’s Wednesday Night Rivalry series, including a game against archrival Detroit and two contests against their division rival the St. Louis Blues.

In total, 12 of the 21 games will be completely exclusive to NBCSN and NBC, with the rest being televised locally on CSN Chicago.
